I haven’t watched more than a minute of professional wrestling in the last year, but I read something that entices me more than Wrestlemania at at this point.

Kurt Angle visited the St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training site and took batting practice with Albert Pujols.

I am sure that I am no longer the absolute authority on the cross-section of baseball and professional wrestling, but I am certain that both Albert Pujols and Kurt Angle are each among the absolute best in the history of their respective endeavors.

Albert Pujols came up as a rookie in 2001, and has set the world on fire, with one of the best MVP runs ever… fourth, second, second, third, first, and second in his first six years. More importantly, Albert deserves all of those accolades and is easily the most feared hitter in baseball.

Kurt Angle, similarly, won a gold medal in the 1996 Olympics and entered the WWE some years later with an abundance of fanfare. Kurt was easily the best athlete in the WWE, but soon learned that he was also among the very best with the microphone. Sadly, Kurt burned out quickly and is a shell of what he once was, but for a few years, Kurt showed us that he is unparalleled in wrestling history.

Incidentally, David Eckstein and A.J. Pierzynski will participate in a TNA pay-per-view event in April. Even though I haven’t been following it at all, that sounds like something I might be interested in.
